Vallis Sustainable Investments I acquires 100% of Imperial, from RAR
The Fund VALLIS SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENTS I, informs that has agreed with Group RAR,the acquisition of 100 percent of the share capital of IMPERIAL – PRODUTOS ALIMENTARES, SA.
IMPERIAL is the Portuguese leading company in the production and commercialization of Chocolates, being the owner of well known brands, most notably being Regina, Jubileu, Pantagruel, Pintarolas and Allegro, among others.
During the last decade, IMPERIAL developed its activity with an enormous success, presenting a continuous and sustainable growth of the business, taking advantage of the recognition of the quality of its products and of the awareness of its brands by its Clients, permanently investing in R&D and introducing new products. With a Turnover of 27 millions euros in 2014, the Company exported one fifth of its sales to 45 countries.
With this acquisition, executed within the criterious framework of its investment strategy, the Fund VALLIS SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENTS I adds to its portfolio an asset with unique characteristics in the Portuguese food industry.
Together with the Management Team, the Fund VALLIS SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENTS I has the strategic ambition to promote a new growth cycle for Imperial, consolidating its leadership in the Portuguese Market and creating the conditions to significantly benefit from the expansion of its activity abroad.
Vallis Capital Partners, acting as Investment Advisor of the General Partner of VALLIS SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENTS I, believes this transaction represents an important step forward in the dinamization of the Private Equity´s role in Portugal, especially when SME´s recognize the need to attract capital and management competencies, necessary to the execution of their growth strategies and, consequently, the development of the Portuguese Economy.
This transaction is subject, in accordance to the Law, to the non-opposition decision from the Portuguese Competition Authority.
